Everything in our lives is about communication and relationships! We relate to many different people in our everyday life, ranging from those closest to us (family, partner, friends etc.) to people at work (clients, colleagues, boss) and to social acquaintances, individuals we seldom come across.
Through our relationships with all these people, not only do we-supposedly-get what we want to satisfy our needs (practical and emotional ones), but we also make sense of ourselves and draw our identity. Yet, oftentimes, our relationships are not satisfactory; we don't feel understood, we can't get our message across, we face conflicts, fights, or-conversely-indifference.
As the well-known personal development guru Brian Tracy says "-self-confidence is the nuclear reactor of success!". You see, we need self-confidence to pursue the job we desire, ask for a promotion, talk to a prospective client, approach the woman / man we like, assert our rights in a relationship, feel comfortable when giving a public speech etc.
When our confidence is low, we tend to act from a position of "defense" in most domains, we easily get stressed out, pull away when things get tough, settle for less, compromise, thus failing to get what we want out of our life.
In addition, we should take into account that self-confidence is not a stable characteristic of the individual; it rather depends on many factors: for instance, when we experience successes, even minor ones, our self-confidence increases, while failures and rejections tend to lower it. So, is there anything we can do to boost our self-confidence, so that we can feel stronger and better? Yes, of course!
Two main factors are of paramount importance to our success: organizing our time properly and retaining high motivation levels. In fact, motivation is the driving force giving rise to corresponding behaviors, which in turn lead to specific outcomes; from this point of view, motivation is the "emotional fuel" propelling us towards the direction of our goals.
